In 1997, a Special Economic Zone was established in Słupsk and its precincts.
It occupies the total areas of over 219 ha and consists of 5 investment areas situated
in Central Pomerania: Słupsk-Włynkówko Area, Redzikowo Area, Debrzno Area, Koszalin Area and Szczecinek Area.
The level of land development in the Zone is over 70%. The Pomeranian Agency for Regional
Development which manages the zone issued 47 business licences for the same area, 33 of which are valid.
10 years ago, it employed about 200 people; today there is 10 times as many. The Słupsk Zone comprises
of the companies with Polish, Cypriot, Italian, Swiss, German, Norwich, Danish, American and Chinese
equity that invested nearly PLN 650 million and created over 2,100 new workplaces. The entrepreneurs,
who operate their business within the SSEZ, represent various trades. The prevailing sectors are plastic
processing, timber processing, production of car windscreens, fish processing, logistics and cold rooms.
